Start a private chat

Create a conversation in the live application, then share the supported invitation method with the person you want to communicate with. For sensitive conversations, verify the recipient's identity before sharing confidential information.

Set up your identity

If you use persistent identity features, protect the browser and recovery information used by the account. Do not share private keys or recovery secrets with another person.

Send your first message

Supported private messages are encrypted in the browser and sent as protected envelopes. The service manages authenticated transport and session state rather than requiring the private message plaintext for relay.

Share a file

Choose the file, let the supported client protect it before transfer, then confirm the recipient and expiry choice. Use Workspace when the file should remain separate from the conversation timeline.

Start a voice or video call

Allow microphone or camera access, start the call and let WebRTC establish the connection. If the call fails, check browser permissions and network restrictions before assuming the service is unavailable.

Use disappearing messages carefully

Expiry is a retention control, not a recall mechanism. It can remove supported messages from the service after the configured period, but it cannot erase screenshots, recordings or copies already made by a recipient.

Five habits that improve your privacy

  1. Verify sensitive contacts.
  2. Keep your device updated.
  3. Protect invitation links and keys.
  4. Use expiry where it is appropriate.
  5. Never assume encryption makes a recipient trustworthy.
